About our blog

This blog began as an attempt to keep our family and friends included in the adventures of little Baby Blakely until he made his appearance in the world. Now, this has become a gathering place for all of our various adventures as we continue to enjoy time as a growing family.

Bathroom Renovation

Well, today began our master bathroom renovation! We are slowly working through our house projects list, but one of the bigger ones was completely redoing our master bath.  While being a more expensive and extensive renovation, it jumped to the top of the list since it's a room we constantly use.

We decided to have Jamie Davis with Custom Floors in Farmville do the reno.
We hired them to refinish our hardwood floors before moving in, and I hired them at the church to redo our nursery floor.  They do wonderful work, and Jamie and his family are great people.

Here are some before pictures of our bathroom:

Today was demolition day!! I can't tell you how huge our bathroom looks now that the huge floor to ceiling cabinet piece is gone! The pictures don't do it justice. But, look how empty it is!

The plumber should be in tomorrow to start that work! We are putting in new tile floors, newly painted walls, an exhaust fan (hallelujah), a tiled shower (no more tub) and depending on a few things, we are hoping that a double sink vanity will be possible. Thankfully we didn't need to rearrange where things are in the bathroom which is keeping the cost a lot lower than many bathroom renovations, but it's still going to be like a whole new room.  The only thing that will be the same is the toilet!

We will keep you updated as the renovation progresses!
