About our blog

This blog began as an attempt to keep our family and friends included in the adventures of little Baby Blakely until he made his appearance in the world. Now, this has become a gathering place for all of our various adventures as we continue to enjoy time as a growing family.

Tumblebug

Ear Tube Update:
Everything went great with Noah's surgery!  It was a little scary for Mom & Dad as the nurse took him out of our arms back to the operating room, but it wasn't long before the doctor came into the waiting room to tell us everything went well.  However, when they came to get us and brought us back to him, he was pitiful.  He was incredibly confused and disoriented from the sleeping gas so he was screaming, crying and whimpering with his eyes closed...and he proceeded to do that for the next hour straight until he finally fell asleep.  He was sort of in and out of that state most of the afternoon, but by the evening little man was up and playing like nothing happened!  Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!

We have noticed a big difference in Noah's verbal skills in just the week and a half since he's had the tubes!  He has started to say "dada" and "daddy" now which absolutely melts Josh's heart every time.  He is much clearer in the words he says (mama, mom, up, bye bye, hi) and he in babbling more in general.  It's so neat to see his progress so quickly!

 Tumblebug
Another new big boy update for Noah: He started in a new class at daycare this last week!  No longer is Noah a "cuddlebug" (aka the baby room).  He is now a Tumblebug!  The tumblebug room is a transitional class for the babies who are more mobile (crawling well and walking) to start getting them ready for the next room.  He will start transitioning to one afternoon nap a day, they will work on teaching him to sleep on a mat, they do "centers" like art, music, nature, etc. and other preparations for being a preschooler.  Noah moved up with two of his friends from the baby room, so it is just the three of them in there right now.  He is having a BLAST in his new class!  However, he is so excited about all the new toys, activities & sights and sounds that he hasn't been napping well.  Very rarely does Noah take only one nap a day.  He is still very much a morning and afternoon nap guy.  That being said, he only took an afternoon nap every day this week...and 3 of those 4 days, his nap was only an hour or less.  That left us with a VERY cranky baby in the evenings.  Poor guy.  We are hoping he will start to adjust better this next week.  I'm fine with him only taking an afternoon nap, but it obviously needs to be a fairly substantial amount of time or he is just miserably tired.  We'll see how it goes!!

8 days until Noah is 1!!!!

  1. I remember hearing Josh say dad/daddy for the first time. Then when he was walking on his own I would hold his hand. Not to help him walk but to hold on a little longer.
