About our blog

This blog began as an attempt to keep our family and friends included in the adventures of little Baby Blakely until he made his appearance in the world. Now, this has become a gathering place for all of our various adventures as we continue to enjoy time as a growing family.

This is why I love #longwoodu

Ok, so this is really only one of the reasons I love Longwood University but, in my mind, it's a pretty big one. As you have come to expect, I'm going to explain in more detail than is normally warranted.

This past Friday, we had one of our signature events on campus, "Rock The Block." It was bigger and better than ever with more food, games, and vendors for the community to enjoy. Thanks to the advertising efforts of the Office of First Year Experience & Family Programs, the Blakely family was pretty excited about this year's iteration of the event. So, we bundled the little man up and went out into the crowds of Farmville residents and Longwood students. It was pretty awesome.

Once we waded through the sea of people trying to get corn dogs and hamburgers, we sought a space for us to set up our little dinner experience. We quickly bumped into some of my co-workers/friends who gathered under the hospitality tent. Little did we know, this would quickly turn into Noah's tent. For the next hour or so, Lyndsie and I got to sit, eat, and socialize as wave after wave of friends, students, and coworkers rotated through to guard Noah. The picture above is a staged totally spontaneous look at how excited everyone was to watch Noah sleep.

Here's a happy momma with sleepy baby Noah.

Funny story about that outfit he's wearing. The front says, "Mom's big guy," and was the first (and only) gender related item we purchased after we found out that Noah would be a little boy. We just love the cute little dog peeking out on his bum. Since we kept Noah's gender a secret from all of you, we had to hide this adorable outfit in the bottom of our closet. It was our little secret!

At any rate, enough about the cuteness of my kid. Sheesh, I'm that dad again.

So why do I love Longwood and Farmville so much? Because of the family we have here.
