About our blog

This blog began as an attempt to keep our family and friends included in the adventures of little Baby Blakely until he made his appearance in the world. Now, this has become a gathering place for all of our various adventures as we continue to enjoy time as a growing family.

The cuteness is overwhelming!

As many of you all know, we've been in the process of moving for about a month now. In that process, we began setting up the nursery/baby room. You see, we knew that we were going to need a baby room in the old apartment but we also knew that we were going be moving so...no sense in getting stuff set up. For a while there, the whole moving thing was a bit of a secret squirrel operation so many people were confused as to why we were being negligent parents-to-be by not setting up the baby room.

At any rate, the baby room has finally been completed and the cuteness of this room is overwhelming!

We've been blessed to have family and friends that have contributed memorable pieces to the room. The changing table was given to us by Lyndsie's loving grandmother Nanny. The crib was given to us by my wonderful parents. Our new stroller/travel system (currently living in the closet) was given to us by Lyndsie's fantastic mom and step-father. The toy chest was given to us by Lyndsie's brother and sister-in-law. To add to the large furniture pieces, we've been given a few display pieces. The inspiration piece for the room is a painted elephant from Uganda from my former supervisor, Angela. One of my fraternity brothers, Justin, painted a giraffe to match the elephant. I also brought back a number of animal pieces from Yellowstone. All in all, just about everything in the room has a story.

A little bit ago, Lyndsie found some vinyl wall decals (that leave no marks!) on Etsy which we thought matched perfectly. They were super affordable and customized for BB's room. What a fantastic find! They came in today which means we couldn't wait to get them up.

We decided to put a large giraffe over the changing table and scattered some cute birds around the room. Let me tell you, those things are not quite as easy to apply as the simple instructions might have you believe. After a few tense moments of shifting and maneuvering, we seemed to get everything set. The giraffe is a little off from what we had intended but it still looks great.

At any rate, this post seems less coherent than I normally would write (darn you Bachelorette playing in the background!) so I should probably wrap up. The results from our foray into interior designs for a newborn can be found below.
