About our blog

This blog began as an attempt to keep our family and friends included in the adventures of little Baby Blakely until he made his appearance in the world. Now, this has become a gathering place for all of our various adventures as we continue to enjoy time as a growing family.

Baby Toes & Sweet Giggles

Sorry it has been a while since we posted.  Life is a little crazy these days!  There is lots going on in our adventures with Baby Blakely!

Noah has reached several big milestones recently.  Starting a few days after Christmas, Noah (with the help of Mom and Dad) discovered how to grab his feet!  He now successfully grabs them on his own and can get them into his mouth...a trick he is quick to show you especially when he is on the changing table.

Just this past Monday, January 14th, Noah laughed for the first time!!!  I was giving him a sponge bath on the changing table and when I got to his arm pits, he let out the sweetest most precious giggle.  Apparently he's got ticklish pits.  He has laughed several times since then and Dad got to hear his cute giggles for the first time today!  I can not tell you how sweet that sound is.  Noah has so much personality already and his giggle just adds to it.

Last week on January 8th, Noah had his first day at daycare.  He has been doing fantastic with Ms. Marie and Ms. Whitney.  He seems to really enjoy his time there playing with his teachers and classmates.  There were some tears on his first day...from me, not Noah!  I knew he would be perfectly fine and have a blast, he is just growing up so quickly!  It was (and still is) hard to be away from him all day, but it makes our reunion when I pick him up that much more special every day.

Noah is so so close to rolling over.  He gets all the way onto his side, but hasn't quite figured out how to get over his arm yet.  With a little help he makes it.  I don't think it will be much longer before he figures it out.  He is also getting really good at sitting up almost unassisted and bearing weight on his legs.

On January 5th Noah cut his second tooth.  So now he has the cutest little grin with his two bottom teeth showing, and his dimples are still adorable!  Unfortunately, though, between cutting his second tooth (which caused him to no longer suck his thumb), starting daycare and having a lot of congestion from the teething and a cold he stopped sleeping through the night.  We did some research and it turns out there is a four month sleep "regression".   In actuality, at four months most babies go through a growth spurt with rapid brain development (hello all these milestones) so many will start waking up more at night to get in extra meals to pack on the extra calories needed to keep up with the growing.  So our sweet boy who was sleeping about 8 hours every night suddenly began waking up anywhere from once to almost every hour at night...exhausting.  Thankfully, the last two nights he has slept through the night again, so we are hoping he is through the worst of the sleep regression and we will all start to get some rest again.

Here's a quick list of the last few month's highlights.
